Clip to ScrapBook
When I see and hear about all these children with all these conditions (ADD,ADHD, GAD, ODD, etc.) I have to ask myself first, is the mental health of our children really that much worse than it has been in the past. (If
it is worse, why?) Or, do we just have more exposure to medicine (and mental health issues). I for one am disgusted by all the medicines advertised on television. (Are you tired? Are you feeling sad, yada, yada, yada? Yes! We're human!) I do believe there are children who are in need of doctor's help and denying them what they need is a disservice, but I also believe that more children
than ever are misdiagnosed because it's so convenient to put kids on meds. As some of the previous posters mentioned, medicine alone is never the answer. Some children are just poorly behaved. (Not all children!)

I can't tell you how many parents told me at conferences that they didn't know what to do with their chlidren. 10 year olds! What are they going to do when they are teenagers??? I'm sorry for the rant, but I believe MANY people (not all) are looking for the easy way out and instead of teaching their children when they are young, they let them run the show and when they are still running the show when they get to school, they want to bring them to the doctor and stick them on meds.
