I felt a LOT like you when I student taught. I planned and planned and went in feeling as prepared as possible. Then, I started carrying out my plans and ...uhoh...this isn't going so well... And it gets WORSE when you are student teaching because you are so busy you don't have time to think and reflect. Then you finish and can begin to make sense of everything you did and learned and what could have been better and what went perfectly. You won't realize it at the time of student teaching, but you are becoming a better teacher and a better person. I learned to look at the big picture instead of focusing only on the planning. You CAN do it. When I took a home care course years ago, I was told that people can hear low tones better than high tones. Think of a loud car stereo - the bass carries more than the treble. So, instead of trying to make your voice louder when you are teaching, make it deeper. It seems to work for me. Good luck! I suggest saying to yourself "I will complete my student teaching, get my degree and then see how I feel after summer." By then, you should feel more stable and confident about it. If not, then you can change your mind - what do you have to lose?
