I like to throw out a quiz just to get a handle on who is understanding the concept. We grade the quizes in class and go over how to do the problems. They aren't worth many points. Usually 10 points, same as a daily assignment. While I post the scores I can check out and see how many people have nailed the concept or if I need to reteach. Sometimes, I can just review it with a small group.I like to tell them that we are going to have a quiz this week and what it is over. Then I break it out whenever I want. Remember, it is just a little quiz!
