Mary has some good points
By Kerry

Clip to ScrapBook
Mary, When I read your post I thought back to myself in grade six. There was this HORRIBLE, OBNOXIOUS, AWFUL boy who no one liked b/c he couldn't control himself, he was rude, he was mean, and to me, he was scary. He would
pretend he had a gun under his shirt (this being back in the 80's mind you, so no one took it seriously and that was one thing that at the time didn't scare me, although today it was be very frightening b/c it would probably be true!) and walk backwards out of the classroom, saying he'd be back within the hour, he would embarrass people, etc. There is NO WAY in 6th grade I would EVER
have wanted ANY help from this kid, and I didn't care how smart he was!! (and he was a genius), and isolating him was a total relief to soooo many kids.

Sixth grade is very different from 2nd grade, where I teach ... I guess my advice was a little young.
