Gift Exchange

I don't do a gift exchange because most of the parents don't play by the rules. I was a sub in a kindergarten class where the teacher set a $10.00 limit. Many of the parents ignored the limit. Then the children who got a present from someone who had stayed within the limit started to cry because the gift they received wasn't as elaborate or expensive as the ones they brought. Several mothers were there at the time and started to complain about the gifts purchased by the parents who stuck with the required limit. What about asking each child to bring in $1.00 to pool to buy a toy for toys for tots? THe children can talk about what they would purchase for a less fortunate child.
