I just recently got married and ran into a similar problem. I think the thing to remember is that we are all adults - if you are not invited, you are not invited. If any hard feelings are brought up with a fellow employee just kindly say that the wedding was planned for family and family friends. Leave it at that. You owe no explanation to anyone and if they have hard feelings after that, they'll get over it in time.
