My Opinion ...
By Married

Clip to ScrapBook
When I got married, I had been at a new school for a year. I invited my mentor (who I was close with) and her husband because she knew very well one of my husband's close friends who was going to be there, the teacher next
door to me and her husband (because she and I had become really good friends), a custodian and his wife (he and I had become very good friends), and the OT and a guest he wanted to bring as he and I had become very good friends. There was no need for me to invite anyone else. I don't consider most of the people I work with my friends, they are co-workers and wouldn't think twice about
not being invited to my wedding.

As a side note, none of the people I invited came. My mentor couldn't for whatever reason, my next door teacher was away on a vacation, the custodian and his wife were attending another wedding the day after in another part of the country, and the OT couldn't find a date and said he felt like a "dolt" coming alone. They all gave wedding gifts, though.

You have to do what feels comfortable to you. It's important to keep in mind that if you aren't good friends w/ these people, if you don't spend time w/ them outside of school, if you haven't known them a long time, they probably aren't going to feel obligated to attend your wedding. It might be a better idea to invite people you have a history with and will be friends with long after your wedding.
