ESL bulletin boards
By Helen

Clip to ScrapBook
As our ESL students need so much reassurance that they are valuable individuals, we do bulletin boards about certain children, changing them every two weeks or so. We put the child's name up big and make an acrostic poem with it (for example, ERNESTO- Excellent, reliable, neat, enjoyable, studious, tough, obstable-overcomer) then we decorate with pictures of that student. My high schoolers really appreciate it, and love it when we let them take the picture home at the end. This has been a way to really connect with the kids and help them know that they belong here.
