Plagiarism

Clip to ScrapBook
Yes, I have more info on the plagiarism issue. I talked to the twins that Monday. They admitted to copying from the Internet once they saw what I had printed out from the sites. The twins, the principal, and I had a short
meeting to discuss what plagiarism is and how to avoid it. It was a serious dicussion; however, I gave the students the chance to fix their reports. One of the students cried and told me she did it because she doesn't have enough time to do homework because of gymnastics. I talked to the Mom that day too. She said her daughter does have time. I agreed with this since they had a month
to do the report. The Mom seemed supportive. Anyways, to make a long story short, the twins' dad turned their final drafts in yesterday, as they were absent. The girl's report is about ten sentences long and doesn't follow the assignment at all. The boy's report is still completely plagiarized!!! He deleted part of his report but still kept some of it. None of the sentences are his own. I haven't thought about what to do yet. I'm not the type of teacher to give harsh punishments; rather, I want the students to understand from experiences and learn. I am, however, pushed to my limits. Any ideas?
