room mom

I stopped haveing a "room mother." Rather, I just ask a few parents to send in things on days we will be having a party. It has made my life much easier. I just ask them to send it in with their kids in the morning. I'll take care of the party. My life has been less stressful. I have parents who will ask me what do you need. Maybe you should just ask your room mom to send in 2 bottles of juice. Have a couple more bring in popcorn, and cookies. Your set then. The room mother doesn't have to be stressed out or need a babysitter. For Thanksgiving I let my students watch Pochahontas or another video. That's it. I do art projects throughout the month. They need time to just sit and relax - mee too.
