I did my Master's research on spelling and LD children and one thing that I found that really stuck out in my mind was that children with learning disabilities need a systamatic, direct, repetative approach to spelling. to simply throw words at them every other day or so will in my opinion just cause frustration. Good for you for thinking this is nuts!I might add that high frequency words often do not follow any rules or patterns and may possibly add to their confusion in spelling. I like SRA Spelling Mastery -or is it SRA Mastery Spelling - either way I use it in my class and my kids love spelling and think it's easy...
