I did my Master's research on spelling and LD children and one thing that I found that really stuck out in my mind was that children with learning disabilities need a systamatic, direct, repetative approach to spelling. to simply throw words at them every other day or so will in my opinion just cause frustration. Good for you for thinking this is nuts!

I might add that high frequency words often do not follow any rules or patterns and may possibly add to their confusion in spelling.

I like SRA Spelling Mastery -or is it SRA Mastery Spelling - either way I use it in my class and my kids love spelling and think it's easy...
