Clip to ScrapBook
I teach Title I reading with no more than 6 kids at a time. I have problems with this too! Maybe the text is too hard or they are just not attending to the text. If it is sequential, have the students draw a quick sketch of what happened in each paragraph. (Only allow about 2-3 minutes on each sketch, otherwise it will become more drawing and less reading) For example, if you are having them read 4 paragraphs, divide the papers in fourths. It is amazing how visual kids are becoming...but this will help them think about it as a "movie" or a cartoon.

Good luck!
