never used food as a reward

I think it's a great idea! because in that kind of system - food becomes a reward and we really don't want to send that message to children. At my daughter's school - for birthdays - the children bring in something useful for the classroom instead of a treat and for parties we involve the children in lots of games and social activities that do not involve food. We have never used food as a manipulative or rewad.
