Amazing!

Doesn't it amaze you that things go on that would get us fired, but is okay for others to do? Goodness! Monday morning, I'd start the kids I had off with an easy math game (like giving them a deck of cards, drawing two, and practicing times tables by multiplying them together, or maybe making square numbers out of one card drawn). That seems like it would give you time to get settled and find out what's going on. You might even want to talk to the kids and get an idea of what they think they need to work on. Hope this helps!
