you are not alone

I totally agree with all of the previous posters regarding what you should do in response. I wanted to share a "Take heart! You aren't the only one!" story that actually happened to my husband.

He teaches 5th grade at a
private school. He had a class of 20 students - and about 6 of them were not at school on the last day. In the beginning of AUGUST (yes, August!), a parent called and left a message at our home saying "My daughter so-and-so wasn't at school to get her art project on the last day and I would like to set up a time to meet with you so I can get that." He called her back and left a message
saying "The projects and assignments that were not picked up on the last day of school were held in the office for 1 week, and I imagine by now your daughter's art project has been discarded." (Which, I thought was a pretty fair way to handle work that was left behind) Anyway, this woman was LIVID and left a horrible message on our answering machine, and has now ignored him for this entire school year. Does he care? Not really. I just could not believe the nerve of this parent!!
