Nervous
By Sue

Clip to ScrapBook
There are strategies that work for some people. One is to look right over the heads of the audience. They can't detect where the focus is and not making actual eye contact helps some people.
Another silly one that can
work with other adults, but may sound a bit perverted when you think of kids, is to imagine the audience in their underwear. Who could get embarassed as a speaker in that situation?
Humor aside, try to focus on the task at hand. As long as people hear their own name or the name of their kids they really couldn't care less about the speaker. It is about the kids, not about you.
Are
you reading your own students'names? Then think of each one you know so well as you do it.
If it is other names, be super sure you have the pronounciation down pat for the unusual ones.
Good luck! You CAN do this!
