Sigh...
By Clarawieck

Clip to ScrapBook
Once more, with feeling.

Tenure is not to protect bad teachers from getting fired. Tenure is to protect GOOD teachers from bad administrators. Tenure does NOT protect a teacher from getting fired no matter what. It DOES
require that an administrator get off his sorry a*s and do his job (like observations, anecdotals of interventions, etc), but many administrators are too #(&*%!_(% lazy to do it.

If you are against tenure, I hope you never work untenured for a principal who decides he doesn't like you, even though you're a great teacher. I hope you never flunk the captain of the football team. I

hope you never try to teach the theory of evolution. I hope a parent who donates money to the school for new soccer uniforms doesn't decide you don't like his kid.

THAT is what tenure is for.
