"Stipens"
By Mary

Clip to ScrapBook
I work in one of the largest school districts in the US and have never heard of getting a stipend (not stipen) for going to a federally madated meeting. Our prep periods are part of our contract hours so the meetings are
part of the job. The administration helps out by finding someone to cover for a teacher who might have to be at a meeting that is not during their prep., although, that can't happen on a regular basis. No meetings can be scheduled outside contract hours (before or after school) without the agreement of all involved. I have been fortunate to work with regular ed. teachers who agree to
help me out on the odd occurance of an after school meeting. Those of you who get a stipend for attending meetings should feel very fortunate. We just do the best we can do and make up for it by losing sleep!
