You know, check out my posts--the earlier ones. I can't believe how much success I finally had b/c I e-mailed the principal (from a school I have never taught at!) and asked if we could get together for an informal meeting.
I said it was because "I was very interested in any upcoming positions and would like to learn more about the one that was posted in the paper"..........WHAT I REALLY wanted was for her to get a good look at me, see my enthusiasm and eyes light up every time I talk about being a teacher and put a face to my name/resume........IT WORKED!
IN FACT, THAT was the only school that contacted

me all year..............

ALSO, I called that same school and asked to speak with the director of Instruction and Curriculum (b/c he was the one we were supposed to send ou resumes to) and left him a brief message saying my name first, that I wanted to arrange a short time to meet, my name (again) phone number and said thank you. HE CALLED me back twice!! And......he knew my name

Needless to say, that school called for an interview (my first one) for this Thursday and they had been talking to each other.....both of them knew how serious I was that I was going beyond the typical, mail out your stuff.........

Try it........and good luck.

Also, try sending a thank you letter for them looking at your resume........just a short one, but I do it and write it kind of like the thank you for the interview ones...............I think it is a nice thing to do plus it keeps your name 'out there'
