self-contained

I love being self-contained. While I have a schedule, I can modify it as needed (example - if the kids just don't get the day's math lesson, I can steal extra time to make sure they truly get it. I don't have to end the lesson because classes are switching).It is more work to plan the extra lessons, but I think it's worth it. The kids really like having the same teacher all day, too. Good luck! Everything will work out fine. You may want to meet with your fellow teachers to share ideas for the different units.
