Check with your school to see which supplies students will be bringing.

Some things that get used daily in my classroom:

At my writing center - tape dispensers, hole punches, stamps and stamp pads, staplers, extra scissors,
glue sticks, envelopes (check with a card store to get their extras), clipboards, dry erase boards, yarn and string, several kinds of dicitonaries and thesauruses, several kinds of paper (drawing, construction, lines, manila, etc)

At my research center - large magnifying glasses from the $ store, flashlights and small lanterns for when the lights are off

At my math center -

dice, playing cards, math puzzles from Lakeshore with the answer on one piece and the question on the other, pocket chart hundreds chart, dominoes

At my reading center - bookmarks, post-it notes (for marking connections, questions, etc), PVC pipe phones, $ store microphones for practicing reading, lots of baskets for organizing books, small carpets from IKEA (actually bathroom rugs that are circular - kids move these around to where they want to sit)

I would keep my eye out for cheap carpets, inexpensive books, bulletin board border and fabric on sale, cheap lights so you can turn off the overhead lights and the kids can still see to work.
