my responses

Hi Cathy~

Good luck tomorrow!

*Here are two questions I asked at the end of my interviews (one interview was at the school I student taught and long term subbed at):
-When do you expect to reach your hiring decision?
-How
do you help/mentor first year teachers? Is there a mentor program?
I would keep them simple and short. I felt the same way as you though, because I was so familiar with the school. Those were two genuine questions that I wanted the answers to!

*"If I were to walk into your classroom at any point in the day, what would be going on?"
-That's a pretty general question.

It depends on what is going on. I suppose you could state a general response-My students would be engaged in learning through group, partner, or independent work.
-Is it possible to say, "Can I explain what my reading block would look like?" Then explain what your reading block would look like. That depends on how they teach reading. During my interview I pictured my reading block in my head and described it. For math I would probably say-My lesson would start as whole class with an introduction and interaction from the students. Then they would break into group/partner work to explore and problem solve. At the end I would bring the whole class back together so they can share their strategies and ways they solved problems. Something along those lines.
-Since you are very familiar with the school, you may want to think about some of the "best" classes in the school that you've seen (you know the teachers who do what the school would like them to be doing) and describe what you've seen.

*The other poster did a nice job of explaining the 5 components of reading.

Good luck!
