My experience... By ALI

Hi Bobbie~Hope this helps... -Last year my interviews were typically 45 minutes to an hour. When I interviewed for more than one grade level, the questions were fairly general. When I interviewed for a specific grade | level, the questions were geared for that grade level. -I would DEFINITELY ask when they expect to make their hiring decision. If you think it's difficult to sit and wait for an interview...wait until you have to sit and wait for that call after the interview! When I had my interviews they gave me the opportunity to ask questions at the end. My question was, "When do you expect to make | | your hiring decision?" That is a perfectly appropriate question. They should have an idea. I want to say it's probably 1-2 weeks, but that depends.-My experience has been that they call references after the interview of those they are seriously considering. They'd much prefer to call only those they are seriously considering, rather than before hand when they might be doing some unnecessary calling. They called my references after my interview right before they offered me the job. -They will tell you in your interview what the next step is. Mine consisted of an interview only. Some may require you to: Answer some written question, look at and assess student work, write a letter to a parent who has had a concern or complaint, teach a lesson (I've heard that some will give you a short time and some materials to prepare a lesson, and then you teach it to the interview team that day, so be prepared...you never know). Some will ask you to come back in to teach a lesson. I think it really depends on the district and the principal who is interviewing. I'm assuming this is your last interview since they didn't say "pre-interview" or "pre-screening interview". Good luck!
