I hate that question
By Carla

Clip to ScrapBook
My answer is

strengths: 1.flexible, 2.patient, 3.enthusiastic

I say each word, then give a short explanation. For example, "I'm flexible. I can adapt my lessons to the interests and needs of the students and the planning
of the grade level team. I like to try to see things from someone else's point of view. I'm patient, so I am able to work with special needs kids without becoming frustrated. I'm enthusiastic, I enjoy learning and watching the children learn, and my enthusiasm helps me bring a positive attitude to work each day"

weaknesses:

When I list my weaknesses, instead of saying weakness,

I say, here are three areas that I think I'd need the most support:

1. inexperience (I'm new), 2. unfamiliarity with all the legal terms (the kids are classified in so many different categories and we have to respond to them each differently), and 3. I haven't practiced parent-teacher conferences.

Then, I say that I hope to work with a supportive team to whom I can turn to ask questions so that I can improve in this area.

I don't know if this is too long-winded and critical, and I am aware that the weakness answers are not adjectives. But it is the best way I can think of to make my inexperience sound like I want to be a team-player and that I'm open-minded. What do you think? What did you say?
