Grading
By Bonnie gr 2

Clip to ScrapBook
I have taught first, second, and third grades. I have had traditional grades (A, B, C), and various other letters. A, B, C grades were the easiest, as parents understand them.

I don't grade homework, other as being done.
I can never tell how much was done by a parent or older sibling. In third, I gave some projects from time to time but they often came in too well done to have been done by a child.

I do weigh my grades. I count a test as more than classwork. My grades are given in a number of areas. There is no "Math" grade. Under math we grade "demonstrates knowledge of addition", "demonstrates

knowledge of subtraction", "computes accurately," as well as a grade about problem solving and one related to patterns and relationships (This covers anything that doesn't fit in the other areas.) This makes giving grades very difficult!
