grades
By Susan

Clip to ScrapBook
This is something I wish they had taught in college. I had no idea how to grade when I got my own classroom. We have to take 1 grade per subject per week. I mostly do "check" grades for homework. That means we go over it together, but it doesn't really count as a "grade". I figure homework is practice. I count everything as points, not percentages. After I go over something in class together, they do it for homework, we go over it in class, then they get an assignment the next day for classwork. That counts as 25 points. The tests count as 100 points. The projects count as 100 points, too. It works for me, and seems to be an accurate display. I also don't find myself loaded down with too many papers to grade.
