bug day, western day.
By Petunia

Clip to ScrapBook
We are out for the summer. The last week our first graders made vest using large brown paper bags and decorated them like a bug. We had lady bugs, butterflies, beetles and etc. They took home the paper bag and made the
vest at home. They had a parade to the principles office, school secretaries office, was just down the hall. Made bug cookies. Take an Oreo cookie add licorice legs, marshmellow head glued on with a tab of frosting, M&M eyes frosted on to the marshmellow. Had paper patterns and they colored and made bugs. Read books about bugs. Two of the looped pretzels (figure 8) put together to
make butterfly wings --a big piece of licorice makes the body. Use frosting again as glue and add candy eyes. ********have a WESTERN DAY.. make vest from the large brown paper bags. Cut to make fringe and decorate. Get some stick horses and have barrel races like at rodeos and time the barrel races. Have straight races students riding the stick horses. Horse shoe pitching contest. Buy at the Dollar Store a couple plastic sets. to make it go faster. Read western books. Have every body wear anything they have that is western. A scarf folded from opposite corners and tie around their necks.
