happened to me By Anna

I was basically forced out of a job by a first year principal who didn't like me or the way I did my job. I had worked in the school for several years before she came on board. I loved the principal before her. What | she did to force me out was make unrealistic demands upon me. I realized that she was leading up to terminating me. She couldn't just nonrenew me after I had worked in the school for four years; she had to find some way to do it by finding me incompetent. I told her that before I did all of that I would resign from my position. I will never know if that shocked or surprised her (I would | | have liked to have been a fly on the wall after I left when I told her this in front of her and the HR director in the principal's office). It was totally against my principles, doing what she demanded of me. I left the job in January, totally in shock. I had never before left a teaching job in this way, and uncertainty clouded my vision of how to proceed with my career life from that point on. What really surprised me after I made this decision was HER decision to have a "going-away" party for me. She also presented me with a plaque to honor my service when I was at the party. It totally flabbergasted me. I am sure nobody was aware that I left under the circumstances that I did, since she spoke well of me at the party. My feeling is that you and your teachers should honor your friend. I am sure she did a job noteworthy enough for being recognized by all.
