I just finished my first year in a new school. I didn't know what was "up" for next year. I finally got up the nerve to meet with my principal in her office--informally--and ask her. She told me that I would be working there again next year. My contract was in my box two weeks later.

It never hurts to ask. Don't wait until June 15. And don't just rely upon "clues" and your gut-feeling. You will go crazy if you do that.
