I hear you

Clip to ScrapBook
I just cancelled my awful afternoon class' final project for social studies. They may do them as extra credit if they wish. I realized that it had been forty minutes that I was standing there trying to convince them to listen
long enough to understand how to do a bibliography, and I gave up. They're doing seatwork quietly now.

Today was UNBELIEVABLE. Actually, it was great in the morning, with my good class. They successfully got their hundred points to see a movie--although the last five was a pure gift in return for a cool skit some of my boys did as extra credit. They did lots of work, and took a quiz.

One of my kids who I've been battling with all week apparently turned over a new leaf and was very well behaved.

Then the trouble started, same time it always does. I always swear I will not repeat the same lecture about how they have no respect for their classmates or themselves (or ME), but I did it again. While I'm ranting at them, some kid from another class starts to throw binder clips at the door of my classroom.

I cancelled the projects. Some of the kids seem to still be willing to work on them as extra credit. I'm doing bookwork to the end of the year. I've given this class too much of my time. My morning core will like doing some extra work, my afternoon core doesn't appreciate (or indeed do), anything I give them. I gotta triage here.

I feel ashamed, and tired. I wish I didn't get so angry with this bunch.
