A suggestion for next year

At the beginning of the year I always send a note home explaining that I am always concerned and willing to conference at a scheduled time. I explain in my note that to prepare and provide the best instruction for their child I am unavailiable to conference in the mornings unless scheduled a week in advance. I repeat myself in person at Back to School Night. After that there is usually not a problem because if a parent happens to try to talk to me in the morning I am able to refer to my note, apologize for not being able to speak to them right then, and ask them when a convenient time would be for them to come back. I haven't yet had a parent to take offence. Be firm, stand your ground. Problem solved!
