Speaking with parents
By Different Take

Clip to ScrapBook
I keep rereading your post, and frankly, I think you are in the wrong here. I often run late, but that's not anyone's fault but my own. If a parent has come to see me before school, then I feel it's my responsibility to
speak with them, even if I have tidying to do or copies to run. It could be a very serious issue from home that would benefit me to know. While there are always parents who will try to take up more of your time than anyone else, I have found that usually if the parent has made the effort to speak with me before school it is an issue that is of great importance to them, and sometimes I
am grateful to have had the conference. Parents can't read our minds to find times that are more convenient. After all, she IS trying to talk to you when you aren't teaching and isn't calling at home. AND...school PR is of prime importance these days. I am a representative of my school and I need to keep the "customers" satisfied.

Oh well. Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I side with the parent.
