I completely agree with the previous post!!

I teach K4 with the Abeka program. I do not use every single page in class, some I send home, some I don't use. I have a great principal that gives me that freedom. I use about
98% of them though. I find a way to use them.

Children can learn phonics just like math, with drill. most of my class of 21 k4's are reading short vowel words with no problem. A few are even reading the long vowel words.

If I child is ready to read you can't stop them, it is just like when they are ready to walk. If they are not ready, exposing them to phonics and cursive is not going

to damage them, they will just take a little long to catch on. I think you should give it a try. Go by the Teacher's Edition for one year and then modify for the next year. Feel free to email me if you would like to discuss this more.
