Technicality

When I got hired, I had the same thing happen. But really, the "pending resignation" was just a paperwork technicality. They couldn't plug my info in the position yet, b/c she was still there. The resignation just hadn't happened yet b/c the current year wasn't over. As soon as school was over, she resigned, and my info was put in. The school hired me, but it wasn't "official" until she was gone. I'm sure the teacher whose position you'll be filling WILL resign, otherwise, why would they even interview you? She must have informed them she was leaving.
