It is tough
By Mari

Clip to ScrapBook
You need to know the culture of the system you're trying to get into. In our district, subs tend not to get hired for whatever reason (because subs are hard to find?) They also tend to hire form the "family", people from
the area, went to the H.S., politics, etc.

What I'm hearing and reading is that you need to be open to relocating or driving. I drove 45 min on roads that weren't always plowed and I have 2 boys in high school, so relocating gets tough.

In our area, I anticipate a number of retirements in a couple years, but I won't be fresh then and its hard to keep up with all the changes even as

a sub. I also don't know how much longer we can finacially hold out, especially as my oldest heads off to college.

I've already been unemployed for a year. I'm tired, frustrated, and in/out of depression. Graduating at the top of my class in special ed, I did not anticipate this much difficulty.
