My Experience By MaryJ

|
I live three blocks from the large suburban school where I have taught for 7 years. I see families from my school on a regular basis and live on the same block as some of my second grade students. My children attended | the school where I teach (although I was a stay at home mom during those years). I was worried about being so close because of the issues brought up in the other posts, but I have been very lucky. I see myself as an advocate for public education in general, and am proud of my school-and I feel a big investment in my district (as a citizen and taxpayer) and teacher. I think most discussions | | with my neighbors have resulted in a better understanding of our school system. I have to admit that running into families while I am in the check-out line to pay for my underwear is a bit unsettling, but it is a small price to pay for leaving my car at home while I walk to and from school each day.
