I do that
By Linda

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm a first year teacher and my kids just took the state reading tests. I decided the second semester that my kids would have "open book" tests, and get extra credit for referencing the correct page number. My reasons were the same as those above: I WANT them to reread and look for the answers on their state tests, so I wanted them to have as much practice in doing that as possible.

Also, in real life, when I forget a detail, or need my mind refreshed about a book I'm reading, I go back. It's another reading strategy good readers use, and therefore ought to be encouraged.

I'm glad I'm not the only one using this strategy, (although I'm the only one at my school.)
