Hey Tamara! I am so excited for you! You are going to learn so much through your years of being an inner city teacher! Everyone wants to know that they are loved-that they are worth something. And I could be wrong, but I'm
sure that there are SO MANY children in the inner-city that are desperate for love-desperate to know that they matter. Of course though this doesn't mean going all easy on them-you'll have to be tough with them, discipline them, build up respect for yourself with them. Treat them the way that you'd want to be treated if you were in their shoes. Also one thing I have learned is that people
will live up to whatever expectations you have for them. Many of these children will probably need you to impart hope into their lives. Demand a lot form them, 'cause they really do have a lot in them-a lot more than even they know!
Also, I don't know what you believe, but I know that the LORD is Soveriegn-He is so faithful, and I encourage you to pray intensely for your first year coming up this August. He will be able to prepare you and each of your future students in a way that you could never imagine!! He already knows each of your future students...He already knows about each challenge that will arise this coming school year...and He also knows how to prepare you to be able to handle ecah one! Besides, what can you lose by praying?
Well I hope that this helps you out!! If you have any thoughts on any of this, I'd really like to hear from you!
