unfair...

I'm surprised that you must attend mandatory workshops over the summer, especially if you have summer/vacation plans already. My school district offers workshops throughout the summer, but we are not required to attend. Encouraged, yes, but not required. These workshops are also offered throughout the school year, so we are able to pick summer or school year.I would be pretty upset if I had plans and was then told I was required to attend these workshops or "find another job". Do you belong to a union? Can you contact them regarding your rights? I can't believe you'd be fired for not attending these meetings. It does seem unfair.
