Not understanding
By Jess

Clip to ScrapBook
I do not understand what you are getting so upset about. First of all, you feel you did nothing wrong so it's really not for you to worry about but administration. Second, you have learned better choices to make next time.
You could have used your walkie talkie to call for help with the Downs student. Obviously there is a reason two of you must be on the playground. Third, you have stated the teacher is being non-renewed because she cannot handle classroom management. Obviously you must have known this when you left her. If she is already not going to be in control of kids at your school what is there
to worry about or be mad about? A question I would have is: when you walked in did you know she didn't have her walkie talkie? Is this a choice she made because you would be out there? I really only see a need for one teacher to have a walkie talkie if two should be on duty. I disagree with her choices but she has made her bed and will now live with her choices and the decisions administration makes. I hope both of you learned from this and I will agree that I think you could have made different choices. The nurse could have picked up the student at the door. You could have let her use your walkie talkie while you went in. You could have sent her in place of you since you already knew in advance she was so unreliable. I agree you shouldn't have to worry about an unreliable partner but it sounds like she only has two more weeks to go. Unfortunately you will have to pick up slack the rest of the year and hope for the best next year. Last, Ninety percent of the time when my students get so upset over something they have done something wrong. Same with me and I think about that when it happens and then I attempt to progress to understanding and learning.
