At my Louisiana elementary school,our kids get a mornign recess for 15 minutes and an afternoon one for 15 minutes. Teachers have a break during this time, excpet the one day a week when we have duty. I thnk it's plenty
of time for the kids, but not nearlly enough time for me! Why is it that recess is so short on my non-duty days, but seems to last forever on my duty day??!! Our kids also have a 30 minute lunch, but I often cut it 5 or 10 minutes short if they have finished eating, because they have a tendency to get loud and start clowning. At my grade level we teachers sit at one end of the kids table,

but that's optional. We could just let the one of us who is on duty stay in there with the kids, but lunch is the one time during the day that we can all sit down together and socialize a little.
