Infantilizing

I had recess duty the other day and the older son (9) was playing football with the other boys. Then mom and grandma show up five minutes into recess and he has to stop playing so that he can stand by the fence with them. This is not a cultural issue, the this is the case of a woman being a smother instead of a mother.
