student poems By Newbie

I'm not sure what grade you teach, but I teach 6th and 7th. Last year I offered the students extra credit to write a poem for the end of the year, but I didn't tell them what it was for. The other teachers and I picked the best one to be printed on the program. Maybe you could do something similar. It made the student feel special to have his/her poem on the program.

For the students who weren't chosen, we published a class booklet, so they were still able to have their poems published.
