talk to someone
By ADarbo

Clip to ScrapBook
When I was in college and had to retake a class, my transcripts reflected that I had previously taken the course (it said NG-no grade). Then on the semester I retook the class it said the grade.

I don't know if your college
is like this, but the two I went to (I transferred to one after a couple years) required a specific GPA on general education classes in order to get into the teacher program. If you're not sure, you may want to check into that considering that you're on academic probation. If you're GPA isn't up to their requirements, it might be quite difficult. It takes a lot to get a GPA up, but
it is possible.

When I was offered and accepted my current teaching position last year (I'm a first year teacher) they didn't even look at my college transcripts. That wasn't a part of my interview, and you don't need to mention anything about it on your resume. It's sufficient enough that you graduated and have a teaching license. I had to submit my transcripts to the district office, but they didn't look at them either (this was after I was hired on the day I signed my contract). They needed to have a copy of them in my employee file.

If you haven't already, it may be a good idea to talk to someone in the education department or an academic counselor. I'm only speaking from experience.

I had a terrible experience at my first college (almost on academic probation). I didn't like that school on bit and had some personal issues at the time. I decided that I needed to transferred to another school (was very surprised I had been accepted) and graduated with HONORS. So it is possible to turn it around and get another chance, but you have to be committed and willing to work on it. Those chances will run out.

Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, but I've learned from my experiences and mistakes and wouldn't want others to be in the same sitation if it can be helped.
