schedule
By Melissa S-1st/TN

Clip to ScrapBook
I have my schedule posted on my website. You can see it there..but one thing I want to say is that the more you can integrate your language arts with other subjects, the easier scheduling everything becomes! My grade-level
partner and I have created our Guided Reading program. It is all science and social studies related. The read alouds we do for SSR are unit related. We do not have a separate block for science or social studies. This is my second year teaching first grade. I added 3 days of centers this year. I have Mondays to introduce whole group unit activities and Fridays as well. The other 3 days,
I have the kids rotating through centers, including unit activities. I can pull up students as needed to work with on needed skills. Although our school has gone with the 4blocks framework, we still do Saxon Phonics (YUCK) which is so boring and takes up SO much time! I am still trying to gather materials for the Working With Words time that go along with the skills and unit topic. All of this takes a lot of work and resources, but it is so much more enjoyable for the teacher as well as for the kids. I would hate teaching any other way!
