From a 5 yo boy when asked by his mother how are you and how was your day? Mom it was great Mrs. W. didn't yell today. I have never forgotten this. I spoke to his mom and he gauged each day throughout his entire first | year of school not by the work, his peers, the weather etc.. but by how loud his teacher was. This was a teacher he adored by the way and he was a fantastic student. It wasn't him being yelled at but he was certainly one of many in the class who heard it. Now I know that he will come across lots of teachers and some will yell and some won't and he will adapt but it has always stuck in | |
my mind that the sensitive little souls entrusted to teachers every day are someone elses child and if I feel like I could yell I stop and breathe. Look at that child as if he or she were my own and I think about that 5yo boy.
