re: Yelling
By Jo

Clip to ScrapBook
From a 5 yo boy when asked by his mother how are you and how was your day? Mom it was great Mrs. W. didn't yell today.

I have never forgotten this. I spoke to his mom and he gauged each day throughout his entire first
year of school not by the work, his peers, the weather etc.. but by how loud his teacher was. This was a teacher he adored by the way and he was a fantastic student. It wasn't him being yelled at but he was certainly one of many in the class who heard it.

Now I know that he will come across lots of teachers and some will yell and some won't and he will adapt but it has always stuck in

my mind that the sensitive little souls entrusted to teachers every day are someone elses child and if I feel like I could yell I stop and breathe. Look at that child as if he or she were my own and I think about that 5yo boy.
