I think you should be able to live where you want without having to worry about where you teach. The parents probably don't mean anything by it and see it more as a convenience than anything. Next time they confront you, just say that another person (administrator?) can help with you more and that you don't really know. I'm not confrontational either; I would just avoid it by referring them to someone else. You shouldn't have to be worried about dealing with your neighbors.
