Clip to ScrapBook
I had to be very organized about it - so that all was fair. Computers could be used during free choice time or when a student was done with an activity. There was a check off grid at the computers (in between) If they
had a turn they had to mark off their name. They could not have another turn until everyone's name had been marked off. I also told them if they were dishonest about it then the computers would be off limits for all. If we were starting free choice time and there were students who I knew would never get a chance because they are always late finishing work, I made sure they would get a
turn first. I would set a timer sometimes too.

For Writers Workshop I had a different list. If you were ready to publish and we were going to type the story, they had to sign up for a turn. Of course you know it takes them forever to type, so sometimes I would sneak one or two well-behaved students down to the library when they were ready. Just to speed up the process.

Did you know there is lots of great freeware out there for your computers as well? I have a great program if you want to email me.

Hope this helps.

Dori
