He actually writes very neatly in his other work. I do think he tends to be somewhat of a perfectionist. His reading is about average for 4th grade. He's not at all good about answering questions--either on a story he's read or one even one he's just listened to. (Answer: I forgot!)

With the writing it more seems a loss for ideas. We do a sentence ombining activity every day--and he's always done well at this. He also did reasonably well when we wrote paragraphs about the various planets. (Of course, we made a web for each planet so that gave him something to go by.)

I'm doing a writing assignment almost every day in hopes that he (and a couple others who are struggling) will feel more comfortable in this by 5th grade.
