Homeworkopoly By Carolyn

It might sound silly but boy have the kids bought in! Of course I got the idea from someone else!I made a homeworkopoly game for my room. I teach a 2/3 multiage classroom and students are still learning how to turn their | work in and be responsible for themselves. Each day students have their work in on time they get to play. Most spots just have names that relate to our curriculum (my touch to what someone else created). One spot allows a "game day" and the person on that spot gets to play a game of mine rather than do the day's morning work (10-15 min.). There is a pencil station where kids get | | to choose a new pencil. Free parking was changed to Free Homework (of course there are rules and some assignments that it cannot be used on).Now that you know what it is, know that I have had an amazing drop off in late homework! Since I still have half the kids from last year, I know that some cronic problems totally turned around form the chance to play! I spend much less time chasing down late work and calling home to alert parents of problems.
